The exile is booked as the land collecting the sabbaths it was never given: 'until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths… to fulfil threescore and ten years.'
Geometry, Release: A reading: pressure never released is collected all at once, by destroying the one who held it.
In plain words
Chronicles counts the exile as the land finally getting the sabbath years it was never given: seventy years. The seventy is a count made after the fact, and the logic stands anyway: a release not kept is not cancelled; it piles up and is collected.
The mechanism
RELEASE AS A DEBT THAT ACCRUES — an unkept release is not cancelled, it is accumulated and later exacted, which is what an unpaid ledger looks like when it is called in. Congruent finding printed alongside: the seventy-year number is a retrofit applied after the fact, and the retrofit does not remove the mechanism it is applied to.
